Parameter Identification for Electromagnetic Network Models Using FEM

This paper on "Parameter Identification for Electromagnetic Network Models Using FEM" was presented at the NAFEMS World Congress on Design, Simulation & Optimisation: Reliability & Applicability of Computational Methods - 9-11 April 1997, Stuttgart, Germany.

Abstract

In many technical applications electromagnetic actuators are still the most dominant part of the driving unit. For determination of their electro-magnetic behaviour, a lot of numerical methods are available, such as Finite Element Method (FEM), Finite Difference Method (FDM), Finite Volume Method (FVM ), Networks, etc. Nevertheless. the engineering process is still attach to a large number of expensive measurements on laboratory samples. However, caused by the progressive miniaturisation of electromagnetic actuators, measurements on test models become more and more difficult, since the dimensions of the object decrease more and more.
To reduce this expense, there is the possibility to put different physical subsystems into one network on the strength of mathematical analogies. The scope of this paper is to present investigations on parametric network models of electromagnetic components.
