Summary

The paper presents a new method to estimate the discretization error from a finite element eigenfrequency analysis. The method resembles the ideas of the traditional Superconvergent Patch Recovery techniques for displacements, except for that the patches are constructed emanating from the nodes and for that the improved solution will include at least two order higher terms than the original finite element solution. The method is shown to be well suited to be included in some h-adaptive approach by its non-sensitivity to regularity of mesh.
