Algorithms for Large Strain Contact and Impact Analysis Using LUSAS

This paper on "Algorithms for Large Strain Contact and Impact Analysis Using LUSAS" was presented at the 3rd International Conference on Quality Assurance and Standards in Finite Element Analysis - 10-12 September 1991, Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

Summary

This paper outlines some of the recent developments that have been implemented in the LUSAS finite element system for the solution of finite strain elastoplastic contact/impact problems. The paper focuses on three areas: implementation of an contact procedures, suitable clement formulations and integration of the constitutive equations. Four examples are then presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the new procedures.
