Analysis of the Potential Error Sources in the Finite Element Static Analysis of Structures

This paper on "Analysis of the Potential Error Sources in the Finite Element Static Analysis of Structures" was presented at the International Conference on Quality Assurance and Standards in Finite Element Analysis - 22-25 May 1989, Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

Summary

This paper gives the classification of the potential error sources in the structural analysis process by the finite element method. The structural analysis process itself is chosen as the classification basis. Based on the classification, the sources of errors have been analysed as regards their cause. The analysis shows that the errors in result could be significantly reduced by the use of intelligent pre-processor which would be based on the qualitative knowledge base.
