The NAFEMS Forced Vibration Benchmarks

This paper on "The NAFEMS Forced Vibration Benchmarks" was presented at the International Conference on Quality Assurance and Standards in Finite Element Analysis - 22-25 May 1989, Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

Summary

A set of benchmark tests of finite elements in forced vibration is presented. The tests cover beam, thin shell and thick shell element assemblies subject to harmonic, periodic, transient and random loading. Details of one test (beam) are given in a six-page group, the first page covering the free vibration solution, the second giving details of the elements used in the free and forced vibration benchmarks, and the following four covering each of the four types of forcing function.
