Implementing Democratized Structural Simulation

"Structural simulation" can represent a spectrum of modeling fidelities, from basic design trade-off comparisons to a high-definition fatigue study. While employing all levels of simulation fidelities is useful to product development, using the same group of simulation analysts and tools for all types of studies can be problematic and inefficient. Enabling design engineers and other non-simulation specialists to participate more in simulations can be highly beneficial if managed intentionally. Club Car has introduced a democratized approach to concept-level structural simulations to improve the efficiencies and operation of its simulation group. This paper and presentation will review the steps taken to implement democratized simulation to the engineering organization. This includes setting boundaries for use, selection of software, training, and the ongoing support provided by the simulation team.
