How to Systematically Reap The Business Benefits of Process Simulation

Manufacturing process simulation can be technically challenging because it often requires a chain of advanced numerical simulations of complex multi-physics problems, each needing detailed input data that is not always easy to obtain (material properties, friction behaviour….) However technical capabilities have progressed tremendously and stakeholders, such as material suppliers, are taking an increasingly active role in making input data available; yet industry still spends millions on shop floor trials and manufacturing quality issues that might have been avoided or at least reduced using process simulation. The reason for this is that many companies are not yet organised for the systematic, profitable use of manufacturing process simulation.
