Designing for Sustainability with CAE Simulation

Nearly 30 years ago some 1,700 scientists signed a slim document entitled “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity” with the opening sentence including this eye-catching statement: “Human beings and the natural world are on a collision course...” [1]. Twenty-five years later a second document was released, this time signed by over 15,000 scientists, saying that the situation had gotten worse! This story is just an illustration of how the concept of sustainability has become even more important over the last quarter of a century. Increasingly, it is becoming the responsibility of the businesses which we in the CAE industry serve, and this is only going to become ever more urgent in the next 20 years.
